Frequently asked questions
- Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
- No, and this is the whole design. Each tool opens, rewrites and saves the document inside your browser, so the file never travels over the network and there is nothing on our side to store or delete. Most PDF sites upload your file, process it on their servers and promise to delete it later; we cannot make that promise because we never receive the file in the first place. Load a page, disconnect from the internet, and the tool still works.
- Which tool do I need?
- To put several documents together, merge. To pull out some pages and keep the rest, split — it gives you both halves. To type on a page, white something out, or drop pages you do not want, use the editor. To turn photos of paperwork into one document, images to PDF; to go the other way and get pictures out, PDF to JPG. Rotate fixes a sideways scan, and watermark stamps DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL across every page.
- Can I edit the text that is already in a PDF?
- Up to a point, and the page is direct about where that point is. The editor highlights lines it can extract, and when you retype one it covers the original and redraws your text at the same position and size in a matching font. Scanned documents contain no text to extract, so there you cover the old value and type over it instead — which is exactly what filling in a scanned form needs. Covering is not redaction: the original characters remain inside the file, so never use it to hide confidential details in a document you will share.
- Is there a limit on file size?
- Merging takes up to 20 files totalling 100 MB, images to PDF up to 30 images, and PDF to JPG up to 50 pages at once. The limits exist because the work happens in your device's memory rather than on a server, so a very large job would slow your own machine down. Every limit is shown on the tool before you start, not after you have waited.
