Frequently asked questions
- How is credit-weighted GPA calculated?
- Multiply each course's grade point by its credits, add all those products together, then divide by the total credits. For grades 9, 8, 7 with credits 4, 4, 2 that's (36 + 32 + 14) ÷ 10 = 8.20. A heavier course moves your GPA more than a light one.
- How do I convert CGPA to percentage?
- It depends entirely on your institution. Many Indian universities multiply CGPA by 9.5, some use different multipliers, and others publish conversion tables. Always use your own institution's official rule rather than a generic formula.
- Does this work for a 4-point scale?
- Yes. The calculation is scale-independent — enter grade points on whatever scale your institution uses and the result comes back on the same scale. A 4-point input gives a 4-point GPA.
- What GPA do I need this semester to reach a target?
- Work backwards: enter your existing grades and credits, then add a trial grade for the coming semester with its credits and adjust until you hit your target. It only takes a few attempts to find the number you need.
