A countdown calculator tells you exactly how many days remain until a date — an exam, a wedding, a launch, or a deadline. It also breaks the gap into full weeks plus days, and total hours. Leave the second field blank to count from today, or set a specific date to check any span. It runs entirely in your browser.
How to use it
- Enter the date you're counting down to.
- Leave the second field blank for today, or set a specific start date.
- See days remaining, weeks plus days, and total hours.
Examples
- From 18 July 2026 to 31 December 2026 → 166 days.
- That's 23 full weeks and 5 days, or 3,984 hours.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the countdown include today?
- No — it counts the days remaining from today to the target, so a target of tomorrow shows 1 day and today shows 0. That matches how people naturally say days to go rather than days including today.
- How do I count down to an exam date?
- Enter the exam date and leave the start field blank. The days-remaining figure updates each day you revisit. Pairing it with the working days calculator tells you how many study weekdays you actually have.
- Can I share my countdown with someone?
- Yes — the page address carries your dates, so copying the URL from your browser and sending it opens the same countdown for them. No account or sign-up needed on either side.
- Why does the day count change at midnight?
- Because the countdown measures whole calendar days from the current date. When the date rolls over at midnight in your local time zone, one day drops off the total.
