Exam Photo and Signature Sizes

Around fourteen sites publish photo and signature requirements for Indian exams. Not one of them says where the numbers came from — and one of them tells you, in its own disclaimer, that requirements change with every notification and that you should check the official one yourself. That is an accurate description of what they are all doing. This page lists fewer exams and gives the document behind each one, with the date it was checked.

How to use it

1. Find your exam. Each entry shows the photo and signature requirements separately, because portals usually specify them differently.
2. Check the source line and the date. Requirements change with each notification, so a figure without a date is a figure you cannot rely on.
3. Read the notes. Several portals now capture your photo live and accept no upload at all — in which case there is no file to prepare and nothing to resize.
4. Use the linked tools to hit the required size or dimensions. Everything happens on your device.

What this tool cannot do

• Six exams, not sixty. An exam is here only if we could trace its requirements to an official notification or portal page. The ones we could not are listed at the bottom with the reason.
• Requirements change with each notification cycle. Every entry carries the date it was checked and the cycle it belongs to — treat an old date as a reason to check the notification yourself.
• This is not the official source and never claims to be. It points at the official source, which is the useful thing a summary can do.

Frequently asked questions

Why are there only six exams here?

Because six is how many we could trace to an official document. UPSC and CTET are missing, and both are listed at the bottom with the reason: UPSC's requirements page refuses automated requests, and CTET's bulletin could not be read. The figures other sites publish for those two could not be traced to any official source, so repeating them on a page about sourcing would defeat the point of the page. Fewer entries with a link beat more without one.

Why does RRB show no photo size?

Because RRB NTPC no longer accepts an uploaded photo. The current notification requires a live capture through a webcam or a QR-code handoff to your phone, matched against Aadhaar — there is no photo file to prepare. Other sites still publish dimensions for it, inherited from a cycle that has ended. Those numbers are not merely unsourced, they are wrong, and following them costs you an afternoon on a file the portal will never ask for.

Why do other sites list pixel sizes for NEET and this does not?

NTA's NEET (UG) bulletin does not specify a photo size in pixels or centimetres; it gives only a file-size limit of 10 to 200 KB. Any site quoting exact dimensions for NEET has invented them, or copied someone who did. Where a document is silent, this page says so rather than filling the gap.

How do I actually make the file the right size?

Each requirement links to the tool for it — compressing to an exact KB target, setting dimensions, or cropping to the right shape. All of them run in your browser and nothing is uploaded, which matters here because the files involved are a photograph of your face and your signature.
