This shows you the hidden data inside a photo or PDF — the camera, the software, the timestamps, and the GPS coordinates if they are there — without changing the file or uploading it. Sometimes you only want to know. Not to clean the file, not to change it — just to see what it is carrying before you pass it on, or to check what someone has sent you. View what a file is carrying: this reads photos and PDFs and tells you what is hidden inside — where a picture was taken, what took it, who made a document and with what software. It hands back nothing but the answer. There is no download, because producing one would mean changing a file you only wanted to look at.

How to use it

1. Add a photo or a PDF. Nothing is uploaded.
2. Everything hidden in the file is read out in plain words.
3. If there is a location, you get the coordinates and a map link, so you can see what it actually points at.
4. Your file is not modified. If you want the details removed, the EXIF remover and the PDF metadata remover do that.

Frequently asked questions

What can this tell me?

For a photo: where it was taken, usually to within a few metres, along with the make and model of the camera or phone, the date and time to the second, any editing software, and sometimes an owner name or serial number. For a PDF: the title, the author, the software that produced it, and the creation and modification dates. None of this appears when you look at the file normally, which is why it survives being shared so often.

Does it change my file?

No. It reads and reports, and hands back nothing but words. That is the whole reason this exists as a separate page from the removers: often the file is not yours to alter — something a client sent, a document you are checking before forwarding — and a tool that quietly handed back a modified copy would be answering a question you did not ask.

Why does my photo have no location?

Several ordinary reasons. Location services may have been off for the camera when you took it. Screenshots never have one. Many social networks and messaging apps strip it during upload, so a photo you downloaded from one has usually already been cleaned. And some editing apps drop it when they re-save. No location found is a good result, not a failure.

Can I check a file someone sent me?

Yes, and it is one of the better uses of this page. It will tell you what software made a document and when, which is often more informative than the document itself. Since nothing is uploaded and nothing is altered, you can inspect a file you have no right to modify without touching it.

Is my file uploaded?

No. Everything is read in your browser, on your own device, and no part of the file is transmitted or stored. Load the page, disconnect from the internet, and it still works.
